THE Sindh chief minister ordered the release of Rs1.13 billion for the 8km-long Hawksbay Road as reported in the media (Jan 5).

The director-general of the Lyari Development Authority issued a statement that the amount would be used for widening and improving 8km-long Hawkesbay Road up to KPT bridge, converting it into a 96-foot-wide dual carriageway with solar lights, plantation, etc.

This is an important project for Karachi, but it is unfortunate that work on the project is yet to start. Where have the money and the project evaporated?

Can the director-general of the Lyari Development Authority throw some light on the matter in the public interest?
