KARACHI, Nov 3: A young man whose wedding was planned next week was shot dead early Saturday morning in Orangi Town, police said.

They added that Zafar Hussain, in his late 20s, was targeted shortly after he left home, situated in Sector 16, for his workplace.

Quoting an eyewitness account, Pakistan Bazaar SHO Inspector Ghulam Nabi Afridi said that Zafar had an altercation with two men who walked up to him before one of them fired shots at him. As he fell down, the attackers ran away, the inspector said.

“Zafar died while being shifted to the nearby Qatar Hospital. He had sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest.”

He said the victim worked at the production unit of a beverage company in the SITE area. He said the victim’s marriage was planned next week.

The police did not find any political motive for the killing.

Man shot dead

A man was killed while resisting a robbery, police said.

They added 30-year-old Saleem Sadiq was passing through M.T. Khan Road when armed men riding a motorbike intercepted him.

“Initial findings said that the two men deprived him of cash and other valuables and were about to flee when Saleem tried to overpower one of them,” said Jackson SHO Rustam Khan.

“His accomplice fired multiple shots at Saleem and the two robbers fled, leaving him dead on the spot.”

The victim was a resident of Quaidabad, the police said.

Man killed at eatery

In Malir, a 30-year-old man was having food at a roadside eatery when was shot dead in a drive-by shooting, police said. They added that the victim, identified as Amin Lashari, was a resident of Dilbar Goth.
