KARACHI: A number of CNG outlets continued to charge old fares and many stopped sale on Thursday night after the government announced a reduction in the price of the transport fuel by Rs30.89 per kg in compliance with a Supreme Court order issued earlier in the day.

On the contrary, stakeholders in different CNG associations claimed that they had not asked their members to close down their outlets. They said they had strictly asked their members to immediately pass on the relief to consumers.

CNG Dealers Association chairman Abdul Sami Khan said some members had asked him how could they run their business in loss, but the association instructed them to reduce the price and keep their stations open.

CNG Station Owners Association chairman Malik Khuda Bux claimed that all its members had reduced the price and their pumps were open across the country. Some pumps might have been closed because of low gas pressure, but all other pumps were operating normally, he added.

He said the price cut decision was implemented from midnight and CNG would be available at the reduced rate by Friday morning.
