CHITRAL, Oct 24: President of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf has reiterated that he will return to the country and contest the elections to the National Assembly from Chitral, “where people were waiting for him eagerly”.

In his telephonic address to a gathering on the occasion of a polo tournament here on Wednesday, he tried to dispel the misperceptions about his return that, he said, had become inevitable due the worsening situation in the country.

“Those who are talking about the impossibility of my return are either afraid of me or are trying to frighten me. I will be among you, with the people of Chitral on the occasion of next Shandur festival as your elected representative and will be announcing more development works,” he said.

He said that he did all he could for the development of Chitral when in power as he felt pleasure and satisfaction when he visited Chitral.

Lowari tunnel project was the longstanding demand and a long cherished dream of the people of Chitral which he fulfilled and also connected the district with Gilgit via Shandur Pass by constructing a road, he added.

He urged the audience to extend their unflinching support to the APML in the forthcoming elections.
