KARACHI, Oct 21: A total of 770 students on Sunday appeared in an entry test to get admissions to the visual studies department of Karachi University.

There are 100 seats available in the department.

The director of the admission committee of the KU said 854 admissions forms were issued to candidates and 770 of them, including boys and girls, appeared in the test.

The test held in the arts faculty lobby was supervised by Dr Khalid Iraqi, Duria Qazi, Syed Shamoon Haider and Tania Nasir.

Dr Iraqi said that in compliance with special directives of KU vice chancellor Dr Moham mad Qaiser, strict security arrangements had been made.

No unauthorised person was allowed to be present around the entry test site, he said. The Rangers and the campus security staff were deployed at all entry points of the university as well as all in faculties.

All candidates who would be declared successful in the written test would be required to appear in an interview.

The list comprising names of successful candidates would be put on display on the visual studies department notice board on Nov 17. This list can also be seen at the KU website, said the official.

Improvement of division

The university advised candidates intending to improve their division in BA, BCom and BSc exams to deposit registration forms with a fee of Rs2,500 by Nov 5.—APP
