KARACHI, Jan 1: The City Council session on Wednesday was marred by heated debates and a walkout by members demanding satisfactory answers and proper information in response to questions forwarded by them.

The leader of the Al-Khadim group, Mohammed Siddique Rathore, criticized officers of the city government and blamed various EDOs, including the EDO health and EDO works & services, for not performing their duties in accordance with legal requirements.

He claimed the shifting of the city government office to the Civic Centre was not approved by the council, the supreme authority of the City District Government Karachi.

He said about Rs20 million had been spent on renovation of the Civic Centre besides nearly Rs1.5m had been spent on decoration and other facilities for holding council session.

At about 4:30pm Siddique Rathore called for a walkout against the attitude of officers of the city government and the City Nazim.— PPI
