PPP hopes Musharraf will obey SC order

BADIN, Nov 22: Former MNA Dr Fehmida Mirza said here on Thursday that she believed President General Pervez Musharraf would pave the way to fill in the political vacuum by holding general elections in October next according to the decision of the Supreme Court.

Talking to the newsmen here, she said 80 percent candidates fielded by Awam Dost Panel in the district governments in Sindh had returned elected and were serving the masses which revealed the PPP’s popularity was intact as it had its deep roots in the masses belonging to all strata of society.

HOTELS RAIDED: The civil judge and first class magistrate Badin has imposed a fine of Rs500 each on six hoteliers including a councillor Muhammad Ismail Khaskheli for running their hotels during Ramazan.

All the hotel owners reportedly were issued permits by the taluka Nazim Badin. The magistrate who was informed that some hotel owners and the pan shops were opened during fasting time, the judge raided the spots, found that some hotel and cabin owners were violating the Ramazan Act, fined Rs500 each on six hotel owner and Rs300 each on three cabin shops.

When the taluka Nazim was contacted, he confirmed the issuance of permits to six hotels and three cabins.

He said the judge had cancelled the permits and reprimanded him, saying that permits could only be issued by the judge and not the Nazim.

RANGERS: The rangers are vacating three acres area in Badin Deh following consultation between Taluka Nazim Dr Musarrat Khawaja and 34 rangers wing, Badin, commander.

The rangers personnel were in possession of the revenue bungalow in the heart of the city for the last 25 years.

The rangers had established their headquarters there and were not prepared to vacate it earlier despite protests by the citizens. The Nazim said the building would be utilised for city secretariate.
