PESHAWAR: The newly appointed President of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter Anwar Saifullah on Tuesday said that his party is not going to form an electoral alliance with its coalition partner Awami National Party (ANP) in the province.

“We will go in elections without forming any alliance with the ANP in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa as the ANP is ruling and the PPP is not……therefore we want to win majority in next elections and sit on the driving seat to rule the province,” said Saifullah while speaking to a news conference at the residence of senior minister Rahimdad Khan.

Saifullah said his priority after becoming the provincial chief of the PPP will be to further organise the party at district level and to go in to elections to win majority.

He said that the party’s provincial cabinet will be announced in a day or two besides a meeting of all elected members, district chiefs and other post holders has also been called to discuss the future line of action before the elections.

“We have also initiated the process of finalising names of the candidates for the national and the provincial assembly, said Saifullah adding that he will move from Islamabad to Peshawar in order to give more time to the party.

Saifullah thanked President Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur for reposing confidence in him by naming him the PPP’s provincial chief.

Responding a question, he said that performances of the sitting MNAs, MPAs will be reviewed before allotting party tickets to them for the upcoming elections.

Rejecting the impression that the former president and cabinet members have reservations over his nomination as party’s president, Saifullah said that the outgoing president senator Sardar Ali Khan had congratulated him over telephone and could not come in person due to illness.

The PPP leader said that all cabinet members were not invited for the first meeting. However, all of the office bearers will be present in the next meeting, he added.
