QUETTA, Sept 29: The general secretary of the Khuzdar Press Club and reporter of a private television channel, Abdul Haq Baloch, was gunned down in Khuzdar on Saturday evening.

According to sources, he was going home from the press club when armed men on motor bikes opened fire on him.

Mr Baloch got seriously injured in the attack and was taken to a local hospital. He died during treatment.

Condemning the incident, the Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) said Mr Baloch was the fifth journalist to have been murdered in Balochistan recently.

The statement said that journalists would neither compromise on their principles nor succumb to any pressure exerted by different groups.  The BUJ demanded of the government to arrest the killers.
