LAHORE: Guinness World Records’ (GWR’s) Raymond Marshall, South Asia regional executive, has said the partnership between the GWR and the Punjab Youth Festival is unique and will help showcase the talent and dreams of the people of Pakistan.

A press release issued by the festival managers quotes Mr Marshall as saying, “This is the first time in the history of Pakistan that a GWR adjudicator is present in Pakistan to witness the people of Pakistan attempting 45 Guinness World records.”

He said since the publication of the first Guinness Book of World Records way back in 1955, it had helped millions realise their dreams.

He further said: “A record is not just a fact; it’s a mean of understanding your position in the world and it is precisely due to this reason that we are here today.” He praised Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for organising the festival to engage people from all walks of life.

may be its not widely known in dehli where you live but PMLN currently is only in power in punjab and has no authority on conducting such events across country. cheers.

Dear Chengez Khan! Your concerns are very right in this regard but this festival arranged by Chief Minister of Punjab not by PML (N). So How could this is on Pakistan level. If this festival arrange and signed by federal level then you have a right to protest. Here this is entirely a different case. Please think before you pass any comment on any one

It is a shame to spend billion of Rupees just to get into Guiness Book of World Record. There could be far better usages of this money. I personally know that development funds of Punjab were diverted to hold this festival.... sad affairs

We do not know the difference, we do not want to know the difference, and we do not care. If we call it a lion, then it is a lion.

Omar, a Pakistani politician can call it what it likes, that is how things work in Pakistan, no one to ask any questions.

Not really bothered about PML (N) BUT UMMmm, unless I am mistaken I think Tiger and Lion in Urdu translates to 'Sher', no?

Well i am a 27...have spent my life in all father being a govt my opinion everything frm schools to roads to police to industry....everything in punjab is much much better then other provinces.....they even collect the toll tax in a computerized way at toll plaza ...whereas politicians of other provinces dont even spare the people on toll plaza on the roads...they give a fake PARCHI n eat our money....Punjab always performs well!!!! i dont know y doesnt the same happen in KPK & Sindh.....Balochistan is helpless....but the other provinces can also do something good for their youth....Good job punjab.....
Omar Sep 21, 2012 01:25pm
Will someone tell the PML(N) that the picture on the banner is of a "tiger" and not of a "lion". BTW what does a lion or a tiger have to do with punjab. Neither of them are indigenous to the region.

How pathetic! A province plastering its own name over sporting event. Why does it only happen in Pakistan and Punjab; why there is no such event in Germany like Bavarian Youth Festival or Hesse Children Festival. In a civilized country provinces' or state name is given to such endeavours as New York Public Library or Massachusetts' Institute of Technology.

Why not call it "Pakistan Youth Festival" and make it more inclusive? The highest form of success will only be realized when the whole nation participates in it. Imagine a body building regiman where you only build biceps and the lower body is devoid of exercise. The result will be less than desirable. Think people, think.

Omar and Co. Chill yaar. The England Coat of Arms has a lion and a unicorn. None of these creatures is indigenous to UK. So case in point. Punjab can choose 'Nehari' and 'Biryani' for all I care, any positive thing coming out of the country should be welcome.
KhanChangezKhan Sep 22, 2012 07:39am
Guinness organisers never justifies in some cases. Why Robindronat Tagor and not Allamah Iqbal????????
KhanChangezKhan Sep 22, 2012 07:50am
Why Punjab Youth Festival and not Pakistan Youth Festavil???? How come PML(N) calims that they are the representative of Pkaistan when their mission is only for the growth of a particular province?
