DERA GHAZI KHAN, Sept 17: “We never demanded that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf should be part of the interim government but we only want an impartial interim government for transparent and fair elections,” PTI Chairman Imran Khan told reporters at the Dera airport on Monday.

Mr Khan visited urban and rural areas of Dera Ghazi Khan to witness relief activities by the Imran Khan Foundation which is providing relief to the flood victims.

He arrived in Dera Ghazi Khan on a private jet with former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and former federal ministers Jehangir Tareen.

He told reporters at the airport that his party would take part in the general election come what may.

Mr Khan said the PTI would not make electoral alliance with those parties sitting in Parliament. He said his party supported the establishment of a new province in south Punjab but the task should be left with the next parliament as the present parliament had almost accomplished its tenure.

He said he would take a peace rally to South Waziristan as the tribesmen were heroes who had librated the part of Kashmeer in 1947. He said now those heroes were being attacked by drones and military actions.

Later, the PTI chief attended a public meeting held at the residence of former MPA Aleem Shah. He visited flood-hit village Birmani and distributed relief goods among the residents.

The Imran Khan Foundation is working in four villages and some urban areas of Dera Ghazi Khan.

MNA Awais Leghari and scores of workers welcomed Mr Khan at the airport. Mr Leghari accompanied his party leader in the flood hit areas but he did not attend the public meeting in the Dera city.
