Imran Khan’s U-turn

Published September 18, 2012

THIS is apropos of the letter “Imran Khan’s U-turn” (Sept 12) by Hamza Wyne.

The writer appears dissatisfied and disillusioned by the political stance of Imran Khan during the recent past.

Besides criticising Imran Khan for accepting some well-known but ill-reputed faces of other political parties in the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, he has roundly disapproved of Mr Khan’s participation in the public meeting originally organised by Sheikh Rashid of Awami Muslim League at Liaqat Bagh, Rawalpindi, on the eve of Aug 14.

So far as joining of the PTI by some politicians from different political parties is concerned, Mr Khan has made it clear that no political party can shut its doors on new entrants.

Further, joining of these politicians does not mean that they stand guaranteed to get the party ticket at the time of general elections.

Similarly, Mr Khan was just a guest speaker at the  meeting at Liaquat Bagh where neither Imran Khan nor Sheikh Rashid announced the merger.

The purpose of going to the public meeting of Sheikh Rashid was none other than the unification of hearts of the people.
