KARACHI, Sept 8: A transporter who came to the city from Khuzdar district in Balochistan was shot dead on Saturday morning in Nanakwara area over what police described as personal enmity.

The officials said that Ahmed Jan was busy purchasing breakfast from a roadside shop armed men riding a motorbike targeted him.

“He was hit by three bullets in the chest and died on the spot,” said Risala SHO Inspector Javed Sikandar.

He quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the two attackers were wearing trousers and shirts. The police investigators later found spent bullet casings of 9mm pistol at the crime scene.

The SHO said the body was shifted to the Edhi morgue after medico-legal formalities at the Civil Hospital and later it was driven to Khuzdar by his family for burial.

He said: “The family remained tightlipped when asked if the victim had enmity with any individual or group, but we have reasons to believe that the killing was a result of some personal enmity.

“He was transporter by profession and used to visit Karachi off and on for his business matters,” said the Risala SHO, adding that the family’s response was awaited for FIR registration.
