KARACHI, Dec 26: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has said that agents of the anti-Sindh forces have launched a negative and baseless propaganda against the appointment of Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad as governor of the province.

Addressing a rally of workers in Orangi Town, in connection with the by-elections in NA-242, the Muttahida chief said the vested interests had been propagating against Dr Ibad, as with his appointment the vested interests, and religious and political parties would no more be able to exploit the people.

He said that only those elements who were on the payroll of the establishment had been involved in the propaganda, which was contrary to the feelings of permanent residents of the province, including Sindhis, Punjabis, Pakhtoons, Balochis and other nationalities, who would accord him (Ibad) a historic welcome along with Urdu speaking people.

Altaf Hussain said the Muttahida had nominated Dr Abdul Quadir Khanzada its candidate from the constituency, who had been a teacher of the Karachi University and had, during the operation against the party, started struggle against the repression of Mohajirs by forming a Graduate Forum.

“The poor and working class people of Orangi have been facing numerous problems of water, power, education, health and poverty,” he said and expressed the hope that Dr Khanzada would solve all those problems.
