LAHORE, Sep 3: The Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) on Monday hosted a dinner in the honour of several squash legends from Pakistan and abroad in a bid to utilise their expertise to revive Pakistan’s fortunes in the game.

The high-profile guests, including the legendary Jahangir Khan, Qamar Zaman, Gogi Alauddin along with Geoff Hunt and David Palmer of Australia, Ross Norman of New Zealand, Jonathon Power of Canada and Ramy Ashour of Egypt, were invited for the 2nd Asian Masters Squash Championship, being played at the Punjab Squash Complex here from Sept 3-6.

Speaking on the occasion, the Senior Vice President PSF, AVM Syed Razi Nawab highlighted the Pakistan Squash Federation’s efforts under the able leadership of PSF President, Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, for promotion of the game in the country.

He explained how the PSF staged PSA tournaments, conducting leagues alongside round-the-year training camps for the players for promotion of the game.

He also apprised the guests about Pakistan’s contribution to the world of squash and informed how the Asian Squash Federation had allocated three major tournaments to Pakistan including the Asian Masters 2012.

He urged upon the squash legends to lend their support and expertise for the revival of the game in the country because Pakistan squash and the PSF has the capacity, the capability and the will to host more and more international tournaments.

Malik Amjad Ali Noon, the President of Punjab Squash Association, was also present on the occasion.—Agencies
