KARACHI, Sept 2: The CID police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two suspected assassins allegedly involved in ‘95 incidents of targeted killings’ in the city.

A text message issued by the anti-extremist cell of the CID, headed by SP Aslam Khan, stated that two men — Mohammad Sajid and Arif Rizvi — were arrested in the Landhi area and two AK-47 assault rifles and as many pistols were recovered from their possession.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in as many as ‘95 murders including the killing of SP Shah Mohammad, Sunni Tehreek leader Maulana Saleem Naqashbandi”, it added.

Although the CID claimed that both the suspects were affiliated with ‘a political party’, it did not name the political group.

Meanwhile, another CID team claimed to have arrested four suspects near the Customs House and recovered four TT pistols and two hand-grenades from their possession.
