KARACHI, Sept 2: Three league events for top five ranking players in different categories, which are part of the 22nd Sindh Sports Board (SSB) talent hunt ranking tennis championship, commenced at the PN Physical Training and Sports Centre Karsaz on Sunday.

“The leagues — Challenge League (under-17), Future League (under-15) and Satellite League (under-13) are aimed at giving rigourous training to youth where they will play against each other concurrently,” a spokesman for the Sindh Tennis Association (STA) said.

Results: Men’s singles: Qualifying round: Mohammad Aamir Tunio (Larkana) bt Saad Ahmed 6-2, 6-4.

Juniors’ under-17 singles: First round: Saeed Hassan bt Neha Khan 7-5, 6-2; Shehroz bt Sami Mahmood 6-1, 6-1.

Under-13 singles: Qualifying round: Mustafa Khan bt Syed M. Shah 7-5, 6-2; Parbad bt Noor- e-Mustafa 6-1, 2-0 — Noor retired; Mahnoor bt M. Suhail 6-0, 6-0.

Under-11 singles: First round: Mahnoor Jamshed bt Syed M. Shah 8-1; Rayan Jawad bt Abde Ali 8-1.

Challenge League (under-17): Hassaan Siddiqui bt Shehroz 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.

Future League (under-15): Ibrahim Iltifat bt Wania Khan 6-0, 6-0.

Satellite League (under-13): Hasan Farooq bt Hania Naveed 7-5, 7-6.

Monday’s fixtures: Men’s singles 10:00am; juniors under-17 singles 12:00noon; under-13 singles 3:00pm; under-11 singles 4:00pm; under-9 singles 5:00pm. —Sports Correspondent
