PESHAWAR, Aug 29: Elders of Mulakhel tribe of Kalam have expressed concern over occupation of a piece of land and forests besides killing of some jirga members by people belonging to rival tribes and demanded of the government to take immediate action against the accused.

Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, a group of elders, led by Shamsul Haq, said that land properties, including forests in four different areas of Swat, was the joint property of six tribes, but some elements were trying to deprive people of Mulakhel tribe of the properties.

Mr Haq said that the court had also given verdict in favour of Mulakhel tribe following 24-year long litigation, but people belonging to rest of the tribes particularly those belonging to Narikhel and Nalpurkhel were not ready to accept its rights.

“On Wednesday morning the people belonging to opponent tribes tried to divide the four-kanal Shahi Ground by neglecting share of Mulakhel tribe. When a group of people of Mulakhel tribe went to the spot and demanded their share they were attacked and as result two people were killed and several injured,” he said.

Mr Haq called for arrest of the accused involved in murder of Bawar Khan and Fazal Khan, fearing that in case the government failed to take prompt action the tribes would continue the bloodshed.
