KARACHI, Dec 23: An Afghan woman committed suicide in her house at Afghan Basti off Super Highway late Sunday night.

Police said that Gulchra, aged 35, consumed poison after she had arguments with her husband, Baradin. She was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

Sources at the hospital said that the woman was seven months’ pregnant.

CARJACKING: Twenty-two vehicles — seven cars and 15 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Monday, police said.

Five cars were hijacked. Two others were stolen.

Eight motorcycles were hijacked. Seven others were stolen.

Police also claimed on Monday to have recovered eight vehicles — one car and seven motorcycles in the city.

FOUND MURDERED: Body of an unidentified young man, stuffed into a gunny bag, was found in Nazimabad late Sunday night.

There were torture marks on the body, police said.

The body was trussed up and the young man was hanged to death, sources at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital said.

The body was found in a park in Nazimabad’s Block-3-H in the police limits of Shamim Shaheed.

The dead man was in his mid-20s and was wearing shalwar and vest.

After post-mortem, the body has been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification.

A young man was found murdered in Malir in the morning.

Police said that Zahid, aged 20, had gone out of his house in B Area of Malir City on Sunday and since then he had been missing. He worked as a labourer.

His parents had informed police about his disappearance. He was found murdered near Tauheed Masjid in C Area.

The body was sent to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre for post-mortem. Sources at the hospital said that the young man was stabbed in the abdomen and the back near the spinal chord.

Police suspected personal enmity to be a possible motive for the killing.
