LAHORE, Aug 15: The Punjab government will launch the first innovation policy in collaboration with Google Inc. at the Arfa Software Technology Park on Thursday (toady).

According to a handout, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will be the chief guest on this occasion.

The initiative is aimed at removing hurdles in the way of promotion of information technology and innovation. The agenda of the innovation policy is to use information technology to help people benefit from better public services, access information and network across the province.

The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has taken steps to facilitate Google Inc.

PITB Chairman Dr Umar Saif said information technology was being used to improve governance, bring transparency to government operations, spur innovation and facilitate service delivery to citizens.

He said the policy would help develop IT infrastructure and solve matters speedily.
