I have just posted my comments about the distinctive character and life style of the Quid. What I forget in the process was to express my sense of appreciation toward your distinguished Daily paper which was founded by him. And since the age of about 10, I have been reading your news paper. I also have the honor to have studied earlier in Sind Madressa of those days, and my teachers used to be surprised to see Dawn in my hands. I also remember the cordiality of the Quid and your great EDITOR of that time viz Mr. Altaf Hussain ( not the one in London now).Thanks.

I have had the honor, as a young boy, to accompany my late father, to see the Quid passing through Bunder Road, Now perhaps M.A.Jinnah Road of Karachi. He was proceeding towards Boulton Market area to perform the opening ceremony of the State Bank Of Pakistan (which is now located in a posh building on I.I. Chundrigar Road). What I remember vividly about his speech in the news papers, which I found my father reading so proudly, was that the Quid was the most uncomfortable with the capitalist style of banking. He was inclined towards a banking system based on the non-exploitative system as enunciated by our faith.I could understand more about such things while growing with the passage of time. The other aspect of this brilliant leaders life was sacrifice and simplicity. And I have yet to hear a Muslim leader ever talking so clearly and so eloquently about honesty and dedication towards making Pakistan a modular country among the comity of nations. He would hide his severe illness. Would refuse to spend money on foreign specialists to treat him; and would even pay the salary of the cook from his own pockets. His family life, I might say, was mostly sacrificed because of the struggle for independence. But never uttered a word about this personal pain. I ask the present day 'so called leaders', where are you? "A rose will always smell like a rose, what ever name you give it". These were the words he wrote to Gandhiji, who tried to be smart with him. Wake up my friends.

"National unity essential for survival". It was said in 1974 and again yesterday. Look at history the country is going in circles.

Quaid''s first anniversary speech:“Nature has given you everything: you have got unlimited resources. The foundations of your State have been laid, and it is now for you to build, and build as quickly and as well as you can. So go ahead and I wish you God speed.” What did he know his dream would be shattered on 11th September 1948 and the 'hawks' will rule the country.
