Man kills son

LANDI KOTAL, Aug 11: A tribesman killed his son over a domestic dispute in Shahkas area of Jamrud tehsil in Khyber Agency.

Sources said that Israr Khan exchanged hot words with his son Zakir and then opened fire on him, injuring him critically. Zakir succumbed to his injuries in a local hospital.—Correspondent

Raise in pension sought

PESHAWAR, Aug 11: The pensioners of government departments have demanded of the authorities to increase their pensions so that they can meet their daily expenses.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, the pensioners claimed that the Supreme Court had issued directives to the government to increase pensions but the orders were yet to be implemented.

They said prices of daily use items were increased manifold and it was almost impossible for them to meet their expenses in the present circumstances. They said that pensions should be doubled to enable them to meet their expenses.

They said only former employees of railways department were paid increased pensions while others were deprived of the raise.

“The file about increase in our pensions is still lying at the provincial finance department,” the release said, quoting a former employee of the Agricultural University.—Bureau Report

Injured constable dies

TIMERGARA, Aug 11: An injured police constable Bacha Zada, who was gunman of the former provincial minister and central leader of the PPP-S Bakht Baidar Khan, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Peshawar.

The deceased, who joined police three years ago, was injured by security forces some 25 days ago when they were raiding house of a relative of Bakht Baidar Khan in Adenzai.

The injured police constable remained admitted at the Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar ever since he was shot at and injured.

He was also referred to CMH for better treatment but succumbed to injuries the other day.—Correspondent

Nine hurt in road accident

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 11: At least nine people were injured when a passenger pick-up van overturned here on Saturday.

The pick-up was going from the Frontier Region Tank to the Tank city when it met the accident. As a result, nine passengers were injured. They were identified as Imran Nazeer, Mohammad Rafiq, Ihsan Ullah, Jamshed, Riaz, Jan Alam, Ubaid Ullah, Azam Khan and Akbar Jan. They were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Dera Ismail Khan.—Correspondent

Record of guesthouses

PESHAWAR, Aug 11: The home and tribal affairs department has directed all the divisional commissioners, RPOs, DCOs and DPOs to ensure taking national identity card copies from the guests staying in hotels, rest houses, guest houses in their respective jurisdictions.

The officials have also been directed to ensure maintaining the record about those staying at these places and to keep the home department updated.

A statement issued here the other day said home and tribal affairs department had taken serous notice that rooms were allotted in hotels, rest houses, guest houses to the customers without getting their computerised national identity cards or other valid documents for their identification.

Meanwhile, the provincial government has conferred the powers of magistrates first class upon Hazrat Ali and Javed Iqbal, officers of the provincial management services (PMS-BPS-17), working as deputy district officers judicial at Charbagh and Matta Swat district.

FIA arrests fraudster

PESHAWAR, Aug 11: The Federal Investigation Agency has arrested a man with fake documents and stamps of high ranking government officials and for taking money from people with promise to get them appointed in different government departments and foreign missions.

A source in the FIA said crime circle inspector Shahid Ilyas heading a team had arrested Mohammad Anis of Jamal Abad Swabi and recovered documents from his possession the other day.

The accused has taken at least Rs0.4 million from eight people as advance with the promise that the rest of Rs2.6 million would be paid soon for appointments in motorway police as junior patrolling officers.

Some of them had been assured that they would be provided foreign visas. The source said the accused had so far deceived many people. He is Hafiz-i-Quran and a habitual criminal.—Bureau Report
