MANSEHRA, Aug 10: A young girl, who had left her home to get married to her beloved, was allegedly gang raped at Mansehra and Kaghan police stations by policemen.

“I wanted to get married to Mohammad Adil. Therefore, I left Karachi with Adil and reached Mansehra but he (Adil) left me there and I fell prey to policemen who took me to a police station and raped me,” said the victim girl, while recording her statement with the civil judge here on Friday.

The girl, who was taken to Darul-ul-Aman on August 5 in Abbottabad by Mansehra police, revealed her ordeal there.

The victim, 16, who according to police belongs to Haripur, was living in Karachi with her aunt. She told the civil judge that she had fallen in love with Mohammad Adil but he betrayed her.

The victim said that she was then taken to Kaghan police station after the Mansehra police station where she was also raped by the policemen present there.

“I don’t know names of police officials who raped me at both the police stations but I can recognise them,” said the girl.

Meanwhile, speaking to media men at a press conference District Police Officer Mansehra Sher Akber said that after the victim’s statement the SHO of the city Khursheed Khan and SHO Kaghan Rasheed Khan had been suspended and an FIR had been lodged.

Mr Akber said that identity parade of the police officials of both the police stations would be held and action would be taken against those identified by the victim.

He said that as per order of the DIG, an investigation team headed by SSP Mansehra Mohammad Ilyas had been constituted which would submit its report soon.

“Nobody is above the law and those involved in the crime would be taken to task no matter how influential they are as we cannot tolerate such blames on the face of the police force,” vowed Mr Akber.

VOCATIONAL COLLEGE: The chairman of the district development advisory committee MPA Habibur Rehman Tanoli has said a technical and vocational college (TVC) would start functioning very soon in Pulrah area of Tanawal.

“The Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has sanctioned 21 posts, including that of principal and other senior staff, for TVC and very soon the college would start imparting technical and vocational education to the youths of Tanawal,” said Mr Tanoli while speaking to reporters on Friday.

Mr Tanoli said initially the college was being set up in rented building and soon work on the construction of its own building would be started.

He said the college would pave the way for generating employment for the youth of Tanawal in different parts of country and abroad.
