THIS is with reference to your editorial, ‘A young electorate’ (Aug 6).

You will please recall that when we published the final electoral rolls on July 31, I had addressed the press and requested that the political parties, the media and civil society take interest and assist people in ascertaining the correctness or omissions in the published roll.

I made a special mention of those who had or were about to reach age 18 to please acquire CNIC of Nadra, a condition precedent for casting their vote.

The purpose of writing this letter is to appreciate your initiative in the matter and express my personal thanks.

Error-free electoral rolls is the first vital step towards free and fair election.
