KARACHI, Aug 9: The police department has finalised all security arrangements for Yaum-i-Ali on Friday.

According to officials, 400 officers and functionaries of the Sindh reserve police, 360 police commandos and personnel of specialised units, including SIU, AVCC and ACLC, will be deployed on procession routes.

The 360 commandos will be deployed on the route of the main procession, which will be taken out from Nishtar Park and reach Kharadar via Empress Market.

Reviewing the security plan in a meeting with police officials, Sindh Police IG Fayyaz Leghari directed the officials to ensure availability of fire engines, ambulances and the bomb disposal squad near the procession routes.

The IGP asked the officials to also devise an alternative emergency plan in case of any eventuality. —PPI
