LAKKI MARWAT, Aug 9: Police have arrested a teenager who had allegedly raped a seven-year old girl here.

A police official said on Thursday that the accused was at large after committing the crime on August 7. He said that after meeting the rape victim, her father and other relatives in Lakki city hospital the regional police officer, Bannu, Nisar Ahmad had directed Lakki Marwat district police officer Umar Riaz to constitute a special team for arrest of the alleged rapist.

The official said that following a tip-off the police arrested the accused, identified as Shaukat, on Wednesday night in a deserted area near Naverkhel village here.

PTI CANDIDATE: Activists of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf have decided to field Khalid Khan for the post of district general secretary in upcoming party elections.

The decision was made during a meeting here on Thursday. A senior party activist, Ahmad Nawaz, chaired the meeting.

PTI workers said on the occasion that Mr Khalid was capable of running party affairs. They said that the workers belonging to Lakki city would launch a campaign to muster support for Mr Khalid’s victory in the party elections.
