CHARSADDA, Aug 5: A woman and a man were shot dead in separate incidents here on Sunday.

In the first incident, a woman was killed allegedly over a matrimonial dispute in the Uthmanzai area.

The police registered a case on the complaint of Sabz Ali, husband of the victim. Sabz Ali said the accused Qayyum, Mukhtiarm Hayat and Matahir Shah came to his house and started firing on the family, killing his wife on the spot. The motive behind the incident was stated to be a matrimonial dispute between the two families.

The second incident happened in Sardheri area where a man was shot dead while trying to resolve a dispute between two groups.

Asghar Ali told the police that his brother Akhtar Ali was trying to resolve a row between Zahoor and Ejaz over swimming in a canal. As they were talking, Samin, a brother of Zahoor, opened fire on them, killing Akhtar on the spot.

The Sardheri police registered a case and started efforts to arrest the accused.

FAMILY ROBBED: Masked men robbed a family at gunpoint just after iftar in Mandani area the other day.

At least 10 to 12 armed men barged into the house of Patwari Sartaj in the Dhaki village of Mandani and held the family members at gunpoint. They searched the house and collected Rs1 million cash, 15 tola gold jewellery, a motorcycle and other valuables and escaped.

According to eyewitnesses, the armed men had come to the village on motorcycles. The villagers have expressed shock over the daring robbery attempt and demanded of the police to trace the culprits and recover the looted items.
