KARACHI, Dec 20: Pakistan International Airlines announced on Friday that effective Dec 22 all its domestic flights, operating Airbus A-300 B4, would comprise only one configuration — economy class. The arrangement would continue till March 30.

PIA has been compelled to resort to this measure in view of a massive Hajj operation, beginning from Karachi on Jan 6. The national flag carrier had to review and revise passenger capacity on its domestic network in view of heavy Hajj traffic, says a PIA press release.

Passengers would, however, continue to enjoy the comfort of two configurations (Business & Economy Class) on PIA’s 747 Boeing and A-310 aircraft.

This year PIA is operating a total of 310 special Hajj flights to and from the Holy Land. This largest operation by the national airline entails transportation of a total of 112,382 Pakistani Hujjaj from five major cities - Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta and Peshawar. — PPI
