KARACHI, Aug 2: The All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) has expressed concern over the registration of an FIR against M/s Midas (Pvt) Ltd and its chief executive Inam Akbar.

The APNS in a press release on Thursday recalled that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had constituted a joint committee comprising APNS members and government officials for resolving the issues with M/s Midas.

The APNS said such unilateral actions as FIR against an accredited advertising agency would adversely affect the financial health of the advertising and media industry.

The APNS urged the Punjab government to settle the issue either through the mechanism of the joint committee or the third party audit by a reputable firm.
