Censor board chief

ISLAMABAD, Aug 2: Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sought reply from the prime minister secretariat and secretary establishment, finance and national regulations and services division on a petition filed against the extension in the service of chairman censor board.

The petitioner Mumtaz Ali through his counsel G.M. Chaudhry challenged the appointment of Malik Shahnawaz Noon as chairman central board of film censors (CBFC).

Advocate Chaudhry told the court that the prime minister ordered for the extension in the service of Mr Noon, despite the fact that he did not fulfil the prescribed requirements for the post of chairman CBFC. He alleged that the respondents appointed him against the rules and regulations and without advertising the post in newspapers.
