KARACHI, July 30: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has started an inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of Karachi Public Transport Society (KPTS) funds and a couple of its vehicles.

The probe had been ordered by the Sindh chief secretary after a recent meeting of the KPTS governing body which was chaired by Transport Secretary Nazar Muhammad Kalhoro.

KPTS administrator Shamsuddin Abro presented a report that claimed that Rs3 million out of Rs5 million kept in the term deposit in a bank had been withdrawn in violation of the chief secretary’s relevant directives. The report alleged that the amount was misused/embezzled while former administrator Ali Anwar had taken away a new car costing Rs1.4 million and another vehicle was missing.—PPI
