MUZAFFARABAD, Dec 19: Muzaffarabad received first snowfall of the season and, as a result, mercury went down from 18.5c to 10 c.

The local meteorological office told APP here on Thursday that some 9mm rain was recorded in lower areas of Muzaffarabad city up to 4pm, whereas the adjoining areas and mountains also received snowfall.

It is predicted that the lower areas will receive more rains and the upper areas above the altitude of 6,000ft will receive more snowfall in next couple of days.

The Makra and Peer Chanasi hills are covered with snow after having received from about one to two feet snow.

Earlier, during the period from Dec 1 to 10, Muzaffarabad city received only 4.8mm light rain and on Dec 15 it received only 3.8mm drizzling which did not affect the change in weather and the city remained covered with dust and fog.
