IN the week ended July 20, 2012, deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks decreased and stood at Rs5976.726 billion, lower by Rs173.462 billion over preceding week’s figure of Rs6150.188 billion.

Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs5364.607 billion, the current week’s figure is larger by Rs612.119 billion.

During the current week, commercial banks deposits showed a fall of Rs173.412 billion over the week to Rs5962.286 billion, against preceding week’s Rs6135.698 billion.

Specialised banks deposits stood at Rs14.440 billion, against previous week’s Rs14.510 billion.

According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended July 20, 2012, borrowings by all scheduled banks increased in the week. It rose to Rs698.331 billion over preceding week’s figure of Rs623.267 billion, or by Rs75.064 billion.

Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs549.994 billion, current week’s figure is higher by Rs148.337 billion.

Commercial banks borrowings increased to Rs621.228 billion against previous week’s Rs546.373 billion, or by Rs74.855 billion. Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs77.103 billion, against preceding weeks Rs76.894 billion.

Other liabilities of all scheduled banks stood at Rs319.323 billion, against preceding week’s Rs325.307 billion, showing decline of Rs5.984 billion. Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs261.479 billion, the current week’s figure is higher by Rs57.844 billion.

Gross advances stood at Rs3679.714 billion in the week under review, a decrease of Rs1.096 billion over preceding week’s figure of Rs3680.810 billion. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs3425.898 billion, current week’s figure is higher by Rs253.816 billion. In the week under review, advances by commercial banks fall to Rs3561.581 billion against earlier week’s figure of Rs3562.820 billion, or by Rs1.239 billion. Advances of specialised banks stood at Rs118.133 billion.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs3238.811 billion, against preceding week’s figure of Rs3207.987 billion, a rise of Rs30.824 billion. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs2580.762 billion, current week’s figure is larger by Rs658.049 billion.

In the current week, commercial banks investment stood at Rs3212.417 billion, against preceding week’s figure of Rs3180.861 billion, a rise of Rs31.556 billion. Specialised banks investment stood at Rs26.393 billion.

Cash and balances with treasury banks of all scheduled banks increased by Rs0.557 billion during the week to stand at Rs514.360 billion against earlier week’s Rs513.803 billion. Current week’s figure is higher by Rs69.598 billion compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs444.762 billion. In the current week, the figure for commercial banks stood at Rs511.513 billion against preceding week’s figure of Rs510.799 billion, a rise of Rs0.714 billion, while of specialised banks it stood at Rs2.847 billion, against preceding week’s Rs3.004 billion.

Balances with other banks increased to Rs131.352 billion against Rs131.341 billion in the previous week, or by Rs0.011 billion.

It was higher by Rs7.735 billion against Rs123.617 billion in the corresponding week last year. Balances of all commercial banks stood at Rs126.274 billion, a decline of Rs1.085 billion over preceding week’s figure of Rs127.359 billion. Balances of specialised banks stood at Rs5.078 billion.

Operating fixed assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs239.800 billion in the week under review, showing a rise of Rs0.147 billion over preceding week’s figure of Rs239.653 billion. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs226.182 billion, the current week’s figure is higher by 13.618 billion.

Total assets of scheduled banks stood at Rs8091.377 billion, higher by Rs11.738 billion, over preceding week’s figure of Rs8079.639 billion. Current week’s figure was higher by Rs1041.255 billion compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs7050.122 billion.

In the current week, commercial banks assets stood at Rs7939.707 billion, higher by Rs11.365 billion over previous week’s figure of Rs7928.342 billion, while of specialised banks it stood at Rs151.670 billion.

Net assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs830.378 billion against preceding week’s figure of Rs824.996 billion, showing a rise of Rs5.382 billion.

The figure for commercial banks stood at Rs818.042 billion, larger by Rs5.102 billion over preceding week’s figure of Rs812.940 billion. Specialised bank’s net assets stood at Rs12.336 billion, against previous week’s 12.056 billion.
