KARACHI, July 27: A new hiking track will be developed along the boundary walls of the Hill Park after removal of encroachments from it.

This was stated by Karachi Administrator Mohammad Hussain Syed while speaking to KMC officials during his visit to the amusement park on Friday.

While launching a Rs250 million project for the restoration, rehabilitation and reconstruction of various facilities at the park, he directed the officials concerned to restore the water supply and sewerage system and construct underground and overhead water reservoirs so that the park’s greenery could be maintained.

Taking notice of the non-operational lighting system at the park, he called for immediate installation of LED lights and replacement of cables and poles.

KMC’s Parks and Horticulture Director-General Niaz Soomro briefed the administrator about the new project and said that pathways would be constructed and the central lake would have an iron grill around it. The old fountain at the Banu Park would also be restored while the hilly area would have fresh plantation to give it a look of a forest, he said, adding that under the project seating arrangement in the forest area would be made, dim lights in the corridors provided, the roads and internal corridors re-carpeted and the existing mini-golf area would be made functional.

Mr Soomro informed the administrator that the Sindh government would be approached for funds.
