LAHORE, July 26: The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf has condemned reported atrocities committed against the Rohingya Muslim community in Myanmar.

In a statement issued here on Thursday in response to local and international media reports of widespread killings of Muslims, PTI Chairman Imran Khan said the persecution of a particular community was a blatant violation of fundamental humanitarian principles.

He said the silence of the Burmese government on mass killings of the Rohingya Muslims was disturbing.

He urged the Pakistan government to mobilize diplomatic efforts on an urgent basis to stop the genocide of the Rohingya Muslims.

Mr Khan urged local and international human rights organizations to fight against the potential genocide of the community.

He warned that the continued persecution of the community would fuel communal hatred both locally and internationally.

He urged the international community to pressurize the Burmese government to take urgent measures for ending the massacre of the Rohingya Muslims. — Staff Reporter
