RAWALPINDI, July 25: A young girl of Tahli Mohri who claimed to have been tortured by her cousin and six of his accomplices who later allegedly forced her to drink acid was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) on Wednesday afternoon but doctors after finding no torture marks on her body suggested endoscopy to determine the effects of acid, if any.

A doctor at the hospital said: “S.N. already passed through a medical board after she claimed on Tuesday that she was tortured and forced to drink intoxicated juice.

But medical board’s reports have proved nothing wrong, however, her blood and urine samples have been sent to chemical examiner’s laboratory for further tests.”

According to police, it all started when the two girls, S.N. 17, and her younger sister I.N. 16, ran from their house on June 5 which led to the registration of a kidnapping case on the complaint of their mother.

After police traced and recorded their statements, both claimed they were not abducted and had left at their own free will – only because of their mother’s treatment.

Sub Inspector Qaisar Rasheed Kiani, who is leading the investigation into the case, revealed to Dawn that the girls’ statement was on record that they went to their aunt’s house on their own.

While staying there, the younger sister I.N. married her cousin A.K. and started living with him at her aunt’s house.

He further said after the girls were traced, their mother went to her sister’s house and convinced her elder daughter to return home.

He said that on Tuesday night, the girls’ mother lodged a complaint with Tariqabad police station claiming that she along with her daughter was at home when A.K., her nephew, along with six other persons entered her house, tortured her daughter and forced her to drink intoxicated juice. According to police, the complainant later changed her statement and claimed that her daughter was forced to drink acid.

Police said preliminary investigation suggested that the complainant wanted to settle the old scores with her sister.

“Now she wanted to engage her real sister and her son A.K. in litigation, therefore, she has been using her daughter to stage a drama of acid drinking,” the investigating officer said.
