KARACHI, July 24: US Consul General in Karachi Micheal Dodman met renowned social worker Maulana Abdul Sattar Edhi and his wife, Bilquis Edhi, at the Bilquis Edhi Female Children Home in Clifton on Tuesday.

He appreciated the great humanitarian services being rendered by the couple and their teams, and said he was deeply impressed by their work.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, Mr Dodman said he had heard about the Edhis and their services long before his arrival in Pakistan. He described Maulana Edhi as the greatest living humanitarian, and said he was grateful to him for being invited to visit the Edhi children home and that it was really an honour for him to meet the Edhis and speak to them.

About his assignment in Pakistan, the envoy said that his mission was to further improve US-Pakistan relations.

He said he would keep in contact with all segments of society here in order to best fulfil his mission.

Maulana Edhi also thanked Mr Dodman for visiting him and appreciating the services of the Edhi Foundation.—APP
