KARACHI, July 19: The Ramazan moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Kuwait on Thursday and the month of fasting begins in these countries today.

But the moon was not sighted in Oman and Ramazan will begin in the country on Saturday.

In Pakistan, a meeting of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will be held in Karachi on Friday, chairman of the committee Mufti Munibur Rehman said.

The evidence regarding sighting and otherwise of the crescent should be conveyed to the chairman in Karachi on 0300-9285203, 0300-9244269 and 0300-5010542 and 021-5688307, 021-9204761, 021-5684550 and 021-99261404.

Some Afghan refugees in Haripur, Peshawar, Bara and Khyber Agency said they would start fasting month from Friday.—Agencies
