KARACHI, July 13: The Nadra Under-16 Hockey Tournament started at the Olympian Iftikhar Syed Sports Academy (OISSA) on Friday following a month-long hockey camp of about 200 young players at the same venue.

“We made 10 teams of 150 of the 200 boys who attended hockey camp and named the 10 teams after former hockey players,” Iftikhar Syed told Dawn on Friday.

Four matches were played on day one with Latif-ur-Rehman XI and Col Dara XI playing out a 1-1 draw in the opening match.

In the second match of the day, Brig Atif XI defeated Munawar-uz-Zaman XI 2-1.

In the penultimate game on Friday, Yaseen scored a brace as Tanvir Dar XI overcame Habib-ur-Rehman XI 3-2.

In the final game, Habib Ali Kiddi showed great attacking flair to down Khursheed Aslam XI 4-2. —Sports Reporter
