KARACHI, Dec 16: The Judicial Magistrate, East, Zahida Parveen, remanded on Monday three alleged terrorists of the Harkat Jihad-i-Islami in the custody of the Tipu Sultan police till Dec 28.

Earlier Asif Zaheer, Sohail Noor and Mohammed Yousuf of the banned outfit were produced before the JM by police in strict security.

Police requested for the remand of the accused showing recovery of 250 bags of ammonium nitrate and other explosives.

Asif Zaheer was declared to be the alleged suicide bomber who was planning to carry out a suicidal mission against US diplomats based in Karachi.

The remand request said the interrogation of the accused was under way and they were expected to make disclosures about the bombing of the US consulate at Karachi in June this year besides a number of terrorist strikes and about their other accomplices/terrorist networks.—APP
