I FULLY agree with the following quote of columnist S. Akbar Zaidi as expressed in his article, ‘The strongest institution’, (July 2): “Until the military is also put into the dock for many of its well-documented misdemeanours, the judiciary will simply be perceived to be on a vengeful drive discriminating against a few chosen opponents.”
The crucial question is: Will the judiciary be also able to dismiss the leaders of the military if they are seen to have broken the law?

Military is there because Pakistan is there. Pakistan has a constitution. The Army has to respect and defend the constitution which says that Judiciary is suspreme, not the army.

the cjp is right when he says the apex court can strike down ANY law which is repugnant to the Constitution because Pakistan is an Islamic democratic republic and its constitution does not only embody Islamic elements but also sets rules and guidelines for protection of human rights accordingly. The parliament though is subjunctive to the constitution like other institutions and thus cannot go beyond it nor the SC can ratify any unconstitutional act of the parliament or any other such act

cjp, is right parliament is not supreme. constitution is supreme. all the three organs judiciary, parliament and government derive power from constitution.he honorable cjp is wrong when he says, judiciary can strike down any law if it is against the constitution.

so far nothing unfair or discriminatory is apparent from the acts of Supreme court. It is on with reformation and honest conviction and take on all cases including those concerning the military. Lets not draw hasty conclusions and try to fail or frustrate the honest endeavors of the apex judiciary just because it is taking time to try one and all not as per your wishes. Don't forget that cases are tried by the judiciary as and when those are put up and are ripe for adjudication.
