QUETTA, July 4: Sacked teachers and supervisors of the National Education Foundation of Balochistan have appealed to the president, prime minister and chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of termination of their services and demanded reversal of the government decision.

Addressing a press conference at the Quetta Press Club on Tuesday, Saifullah Khan, a former supervisor, said that more than 900 employees of the NEF had been sacked without prior notice.

He said that according to a decision of the Supreme Court announced in October 2011 the federal government had to regularise services of teachers, supervisors and staff working on the NEF project.

Mr Khan said the federal government, instead of implementing the verdict of the Supreme Court, had sacked hundreds of employees. The government move, he said, had contradicted its own claim of providing jobs to unemployed youths of Balochistan.

He said it was the responsibility of the government to take the issue seriously and direct the top management of NEF to withdraw termination orders.—Correspondent
