KARACHI, June 19: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has announced that it accepts the judgment of the Supreme Court with regard to the disqualification of Yousuf Raza Gilani as a member of parliament.

According to a press release issued here on Tuesday, a meeting of the MQM Coordination Committee was held simultaneously in Karachi and London to discuss the situation evolving in the country after the Supreme Court judgment.

“The meeting unanimously observed that MQM believes in the independence of judiciary and regards it with dignity. The MQM accepts the judgment of the Supreme Court on the disqualification of Mr Yousuf Raza Gilani.”

It said the MQM believed that the democratic process must continue in the country under all conditions and confrontation among institutions should be avoided at all costs as the policy of confrontation would not be in the interest of the country.
