KARACHI, June 16: Six people were killed in the city in separate incidents of firing late on Saturday.

In Nagori Goth along the Super Highway, three people were found shot dead, police said, adding local people had spotted the bodies of the young men in the deserted area surrounded by bushes.

“The victims remain unidentified and it seems that they were kidnapped before being shots dead,” said SP Jan Muhammad Barhamani.

He said police had found several cases of spent bullets from the place which suggested use of 9mm and TT pistols in the crime.

“The bodies have been moved to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities,” the source said.

Earlier in Aram Bagh area, a motorcycle mechanic was shot dead near his home. Police said two armed men on a motorcycle targeted 30-year-old Fahim Iqbal when he was standing with friends outside his house near Cycle Market.

“The victim ran a motorcycle repair shop,” said an official at the Aram Bagh police station.

Fahim did not have any political association or personal enmity, the official said, adding he recently returned from Balochistan where he had gone to see relatives.

A young man was gunned down near Timber Market.

Officials identified the deceased as Aqeel Ibrahim.

In another incident, a six-year-old boy suffered a fatal bullet wound when four armed bandits while fleeing from the wrath of public in Patel Para area opened fire. Two of them were later caught and handed over to the police, officials and witnesses said.

“People spotted four armed men snatching cellphones and valuables from passersby near Business Recorder Road in Patel Para area,” said an official at the Jamshed Quarters police station. “People dared to challenge them that triggered random firing by the bandits. One of the bullets hit six-year-old Farhan who was standing on the first floor balcony of his residence.”

The boy was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he died during treatment.
