KARACHI, Dec 13: An essay-writing, poetry and photography contest was held at the University of Karachi in connection with the centenary birth anniversary of former vice-chancellor Dr Ishtiaq Hussain Qureshi to promote creative and aesthetic capabilities among the students.

Prof Moinuddin Aqeel, Prof Sahar Ansari and Durria Qazi were the judges for essay-writing, poetry and photography competitions, respective-ly.

In essay-writing, Saima Naz Ansari and Saba Kausar of Urdu department clinched the first and second prizes, while Hammad Zaheer of the department of computer science got the third prize.

In poetry, Syed Nazir Hussain Shah Gilani of the physiology department was awarded the first prize, Masood Raza Masood of applied chemistry got second, while Rehan Mustafa of econo-mics department won the third prize.

In photography, Ubaidur Rehman of the department of visual studies won the first prize, Durr-i-Shehwar of the department of women studies got second, while the third prize went to Zehra Arshad of the visual studies department.—PPI
