ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday declared his party’s protest, during the budget speech by Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh in the lower house of the parliament, as “people’s voice,” DawnNews reported.

Opposition lawmakers belonging to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) hijacked the government's unveiling of the new budget, trading punches during angry scuffles in parliament against power cuts and corruption.

Speaking to media representatives outside the parliament building, Nisar said that “whatever happened in there wasn’t good” however, he added that it was bound to happen at some stage as the current government has been acting “blind and deaf,” which could not hear public outcry.

The PML-N leader asserted that government’s attitude triggered the opposition to protest in such manner. “National Assembly will not be run in a democratic way anymore for the government as it has been for the last four year. We will not only protest in the house but on roads as well,” said Nisar as he threatened the government.

The opposition leader said that the poor masses of the country do not expect anything good form the budget as they are deprived of basic necessities of life. “Rulers have destroyed the country completely during their tenure in last four years,” he added.
