ATTOCK, May 23: PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif has criticised the PPP-led government for what he says the manner in which it is seeking an apology from the US over the Salala air strikes which left 24 Pakistani soldiers dead last year.

Speaking at a public meeting at the Liaquat Ali Khan hockey stadium on Wednesday, he said the government had taken more loans over the last four years than what the previous governments took in the previous 50 years.

“They have been begging for loans and are ready to sell the blood of the nation for just one billion dollars,” the PML-N leader claimed.

“When I was the prime minister, the US government functionaries used to request me for a meeting by making repeated calls,” Mr Sharif said.

He urged the government to change its beggar-like attitude because it had put the respect and integrity of the nation at stake.

Mr Sharif said that he would not rest until accountability of the rulers was carried out, which was now unavoidable, as neither did they accept the orders of the Supreme Court nor were they willing to bring back looted wealth from abroad.

Mr Sharif said the time for negotiations with the PPP government was over and it now needed a hard push which was necessary to protect the integrity and sovereignty of the country.

“If we can restore deposed judges through a historic long march, we can also do the same for the respect of court orders and for the country’s protection,” the PML-N leader said.
