KARACHI, May 22: A suspect was remanded in police custody till May 24 by a judicial magistrate on Tuesday in a kidnapping case.

The suspect — Dr Babar Hussain — has been booked for allegedly kidnapping a woman within the remit of the Darakhshan police station.

The suspect, who posed himself a lawyer, scuffled with some lawyers upon his production in court and the lawyers allegedly manhandled him.

Meanwhile, a judicial magistrate (south) remanded him in police custody till May 24.

According to the prosecution, the suspect allegedly abducted a woman on May 19. A couple of days later the police detained him and recovered the woman.

A case was registered against him under Section 365-B (kidnapping or inducing woman to compel for marriage, etc.) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Darakhshan police station.

The statement of alleged captive could not be recorded on Tuesday due to the brawl.
