KARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik condemned Tuesday’s violent incidents in Karachi which claimed eleven lives. He accused Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) of instigating nationalist parties to engage in bloodshed in the provincial capital, DawnNews reported.

The interior minister said “to play political games over innocent people’s blood is tantamount to treason.”

He said that the PML-N will be held accountable to the nation for eleven people’s death in Karachi.

Malik said that the rally held by two political parties on Tuesday, was without the provincial government’s approval and it was violation of the law.

The miscreants were brought to attend the rally from outside of Karachi, the interior minister claimed.

Malik ordered the Inspector General (IG) Sindh to present the detailed report of the incident within 24 hours.

He directed the Director General (DG) Rangers and the IG Sindh to deploy more troops and increase its patrol to control the turbulent situation of the city.

PML-N Sindh President Syed Ghous Ali Shah

While on the other hand PML-N Sindh President Syed Ghous Ali Shah said that their party supports the call for strike by the Awami Tehreek Party.

Speaking to media representatives at his residence, Shah said that the firing on today’s rally was a pre-planned.

He said that the federal and the provincial governments are responsible for the deteriorating law and situation of the city.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani strongly condemned the killing of innocent people at the hands of miscreants inKarachi.

Taking strong notice of the abhorrent incident, the prime minister directed the provincial government of Sindh to submit an immediate report on the incident.

The prime minister also directed that swift action should be taken to protect the life and property of citizens and those involved in this heinous crime should be apprehended and brought to justice.

President Asif Ali Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday vehemently condemned the killing of innocent people inKarachi.

The President directed that strict measures should be taken to maintain peace in the city.

Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah

Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has taken a serious notice of firing on the rally of Awami Tehreek and asked IG Sindh and law enforcing agencies to arrest the culprits, involed in the firing and monitor the activities of miscreants.

In a statement issued here Tuesday, he expressed sympathies with the families of deceased and injured and directed secretary health to provide all possible medical treatment to the injured.

He also directed medical superintendent civil hospital to take all arrangements for the treatment of injured persons.

Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri

Meanwhile, Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri has also condemned the firing on the rally and said it was a cowardly act.

Talking to a private TV channel, she said that it wan attempt to harmPakistanby de-stabilizingKarachithrough violence.

They are anti state elements and called upon people to show unity to defeat them, she added.

Ms Marri hoped that police and law enforcing agencies will control the situation and maintain law and order. She also expressed her profound grief over the loss of precious lives and sympathized with injured.

She also expressed sorrow over the injuries sustained by media persons during the firing incident.

Replying to a question, she said that in her personal capacity she wanted to see the society as free of weapons.

Sec Gen PPP Sindh Taj Haider

General Secretary Pakistan People’s Party Sindh Taj Haider has strongly condemned the killing and violence inKarachiand demanded for an inquiry into the incident.

He also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of live and prayed for early recovery of injured persons.
