ISLAMABAD, May 8: City police on Tuesday booked young Asim Khan for intimidating a girl in public but did not detain him because he is the son of the chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA). Police sources said that the Industrial Area police reached I-8 Markaz in response to a call for help from the girl RA and found Asim haranguing her in front of her male relatives and surrounded by onlookers. He claimed she was his girlfriend who had deserted him and insisted she return to him.

When the police intervened, Asim allegedly abused them too, frequently reminding them of his high position and connections. Eventually police brought him to their station where a case was registered against Asim under PPC 506 (criminal intimidation) on the complaint of the girl who accompanied them.

However, the police had to let him go after senior police officers intervened in the matter.

Capital Development Authority Chairman Farkhand Iqbal told Dawn that he was not aware of the case registered against his son.

He, however, said if his son was involved in any wrongdoing he would not go unpunished.
